Unable to install apks

I m unable to install apks on my android phone though they download completely and without any problem from Chrome and I have checked the unknown sources box in the settings too. I downloaded an apk on my mom's phone and it installed in it but it didn't install in my phone.

Please help me......

what version of Android is your Android phone running and what model of phone are you using?? it might be compatibility issue.. Your Android OS might be outdated for the apk to run or you downloaded an arm64 apk version while your device isn't 64bit

I Have Android 6.0 Marshmallow
1 gb free in internal and 3 gb free on external storage.
I had installed the apk once but after resetting my phone I was not able to install any apk...

Will it just not appear as installed, or will it not let you press the install button? If it is the former, I have no idea. But of you can't press the button, go to settings>applications>application manager>tap the more in the upper right corner>apps that can appear on top and switch all of them off.
