Unable to make or receive calls

For maybe the last week i have been unable to make or receive calls.
I get an error msg 'Mobile Network not available'

I have network bars.
I have data and wifi usage
No area network issues
Vodafone UK have advised that they can see the SIM and no issues, no barring on the account
i have rebooted and done factory resets
I have put the sim in another handset and it worked.

Has anyone else had this issue or have suggestions on how to resolve?

Well my first thought was the SIM card, but I guess you have ruled that out.
So 2 options, Factory reset, which I doubt will work.
Or bring it into a store and have them test it
At least rule out an actual network issue

Typically that only happens if it's been reported as stolen? Did you buy it used?

It was boxed and wrapped still, apparently an unwanted upgrade.
So best guess, its stolen or an insurance job, either way im chasing the seller but not holding my breath.

I have heard of legit sounding companies reboxing bricked phones, and even rewrapping them. Was it a business or just some independent seller?
