I followed the instructions here on AndroidCentral about how to download the zip file, debug my USB, and install the USB Driver to screencap using Windows. I got all the way to the last step- I was able to check "Browse my computer for driver software", but when I selected the proper folder and clicked next, it immediately tells me it can't install it. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I definitely know I can't root my Fascinate, I'd definitely screw it up, so I wanted to just be able to screencap this way. :(

Do you really want to use ADB? Shoot Me works fine. Even though it says requires root, it still works without it.

Oh, it does? Is that hard to figure out? I'll go find that in the Market now..

(I'm a noob around here, so I apologize if someone has posted a thread like this before and has had the same issue I have.)

It's a legitimate question, so don't feel bad for asking it at all ;) In most cases ShootMe requires root access, but it works on the Galaxy S phones without root. All you have to do is shake your phone and it takes a screenshot. Simple as that. ShootMe is one word BTW. I typed it wrong earlier.

awesome!! I've been wanting to this, and just haven't completely finished the SDK method.

Thanks!

Just a follow up on this. In Android time, those instructions are ancient :p Most new Android phones need special drivers for Windows instead of using the default Google driver. Some even need both. We leave it around because most of it still applies. :)

Sounds like you would be good to go on adb if you installed the driver from Samsung if/when you want to hack that bad boy :p

I do want to hack it and root it, I do... but I need to read way up on it first. I'm really scared of doing it wrong. I've had 7 Android phones break on me for no reason, and I feel rooting it is providing a perfectly good opportunity to break my 8th one, and I'm not sure it's worth the risk yet. But I'm going to read up and see.

I do like ShootMe though.. it's not perfect but it gets the job done, so I'm happy with that!
