[Unconfirmed] Sprint JB update this Thursday

None of the guys I know that work for Sprint try to sell people an iPhone. It's all about Android around here. :D

Yeah that tried to get my fiancee on an Epic. Wasn't going to allow that.

Can anyone confirm that the ota will wipe the device?

OTAs don't wipe. That would be a nightmare for carriers and Google.

Not at all. I have seen two OTA Jellybean updates now (one phone, one tablet) and the update is fast and smooth. It took about 15 minutes to download and run over wi-fi.

So far as I have seen, no official OTA has ever wiped a device.

Usually if it would cause a wipe because they need to repartition the device, you get the official statement that

"We will not be doing an update of X device to Y version of Android because it will negatively affect user experience"

Wiping your device and losing all your pictures can be seen a negatively affecting your experience. They do this because saying it would cause a repartition of the memory ont he device to make room for the larger OS would be way too technical for 99% of users.

That could be because this is the Galaxy Nexus part of the forum, and the Sprint link was for the System changes for the Galaxy Nexus. If you search their site for the NS4g software updates, you'll see a similar change log for the NS4g that shows the same update coming down.

I doubt this to be true, Called to get a airave the techs knew absolutely nothing about an update this was about 2 days ago, although I hope it to be true jellybean makes ics look silly.
