Unexplained battery drain?

I just got this phone today and I went through the norm of disabling bloatware and the like and I once I charged it to 100%, I left it alone for awhile to do some things. I come back to check something on the internet and my battery is already drained to 85% in fifteen minutes (I know the time because that's what it said in the "Battery" settings). Obviously this isn't right, so when I to check I found that the screen is using upwards of 58% of the battery. The backlight is off, the brightness is set to around 20-25%, none of the smart functions are on, and wi-fi, location, bluetooth, and NFC are off.

How and why is this happening?

What are the other percentages?

Try to restart the phone, get back to 100% and watch it again.

Every other percentage is below 20%. That's why I don't understand how the screen itself could be using so much battery. I did just restart it and I'm charging it back to 100% as we speak. We'll see what happens, but that is ridiculous.

Also, the estimated battery time says 2 days even though it drained that fast.

Okay so now it's back at 100& and it's been on battery for 40 minutes. This seems more normal, except for the fact that I put it on Stamina mode. Now I'm not saying this is a bad thing, but it shouldn't have to be on stamina mode to get some decent life. I'm gonna test it off Stamina tomorrow while I'm at work and report back if there's still an issue.

The percentages changed to more reasonable numbers as well with the screen now going down to 23%, but I don't know if that's because of Stamina mode. Hoping everything is normal from here on.

I have the same issue when I'm receiving and sending text messages. It will get extremely hot and kill the battery.
