"Unfortunately, Touchwiz home has stopped" message while texting

I don't know if this occurred because of the recent software update or if, when I was trying to clear storage, I inadvertently deleted a stock app. Whatever the reason, I am getting the annoying "Unfortunately, ..." message whenever I send or receive texts, and then sporadically doing other functions. I have done the soft re-boot and the battery pull, but the problem persists. I really don't want to do the factory reset; six months of stuff to replicate is a pain. Suggestions?
