Unicorn Beetle Pro screen necessary?

My Note 4 has an iBlason case that was part TPU and part hard shell that would either go on the front or the back, depending on how you used it. I liked the TPU because it was so easy to grip.

iBlason now has the Unicorn Beetle which looks nearly the same. BUT it comes with a screen protector that clips on.

Does anyone know if that screen is necessary for the back to fit??

And a side question: is the iBlason UB the same one as the Supcase UB? It sure seems to be. Sometimes the Supcase is shown without the piece with the clip, though.

I can't say for the Note 8 but I have this case for the S8+ and it does not have the screen protector where the same case on my Note 5 does. It seems like the phones with flat screens have the builtin screen protector, the phones with curved edges don't (this case for the Note 7 did not have it either)
Cheers,
BR

I have this for the Note8. the iBlason/Supcase Unicorn beetle Pro case is the same. Yes, you have to put on the frame/front of the case on order to lock it into the back/TPU section of the case. Otherwise the phone will easily slip out of the TPU portion.

The screen protector is built in, and so far doesn't look like it can be removed. So I am returning mine.
I have the Whitestone Dome Glass Protector on my N8 right now, so I am returning the case as it doesn't allow for both screen protectors.
It's a very tight fit, and you lose all touch ability in the center of the screen. The only area's that worked were the edges.

It's odd to me because the screen protector was not an option for the S7E, but there's no option to NOT get the screen protector built in.

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks!

Looking into the Zizo Bolt instead. It has a screen protector added in, too, but it doesn't seem to be part of the frame.

In my case, I am going to pick up the Speck Presidio clear case. For me, historically, they have been very protective, and now, with the Whitestone dome glass being compatible, it's a better combo. I only wish the back wasn't so frosted, and the case wasn't so tight so I could throw on a skin under it. I am debating on doing that with my Ringke Fusion case right now.

Correct. The Zizo Bolt simply comes with a separate screen protector that you can install if you choose to. I had this case for my V20, it was outstanding.

That is great to know! I like the looks of the case. It is rubberized, right? Not slick like the Otterboxes tend to be?

Too late though. It got really scratched up bad this afternoon. I'm looking into DIY scratch repairs and ordering the Bolt case and the Whitestone dome.

Yes. And it gets "grippier" over time.

The Whitestone Dome will fill in scratches if you choose to go with that

If you remove the screen protector from the unicorn beetle will the Whitestone dome fit?

Not 100% sure. I thought about that, but for the most part from what I could see it looks like the frame lays over top of it where as without the glass, it would lay right oon the screen, if that makes sense. I've already boxed it up to send back.

The i-Blason Armorbox which is made by the same company has the built in protector too. Is this protector like the Otterbox for the S7 edge that I had? I will say the protector fits very flush with that type of material but screen sensitivity is lost.

After only a few hours I had to take the screen protector out. i kept having to retype words over and over again It was very easy and as stated before took all of 5 seconds. Now I need to figure out if the Whitestone Dome will work with this case. Hopefully somebody has already tried it before I have to spend $50.

I just got the supcase and will be using it for work. So until tomorrow night I’ll know how good or bad it works for me.

With the screen removed since it uses a thicker material than past supcases, is it like the Defender for the S7 edge and if you remove the screen protector the phone slides around in teh case?

I’ve used mine all this past week. I'm very glad I had it on my Note, because for the first time, 3 days ago, my Note 8 fell down out of my hand when I was on a 4 foot ladder.
Landed on a corner (S-Pen went out flying away from the phone) and it bounced 3 times until a complete stop.
My heart stopped for what it felt like eternity.
I don't remember how I got off the ladder (or if I jumped from it) but all of the sudden I was picking up my phone from the tile floor.
No scratches on the Supcase, took the phone out, nothing happened to it, picked up the S-Pen, no damage to it either.
Needless to say I felt like the happiest man alive at that moment!

Now, all that excitement aside, the thick plastic cover for the display makes it a little more difficult to type stuff.
Maybe I got used to the naked display, but I have to press harder to use my display on a regular basis.

I'm still very happy with this case and feel like I can put up with this issue for the sake of protecting my Note 8.
Anyway, I take it off the Supcase every weekend and use 1 of the other 3 cases I have for it.

Sent From Inside the TARDIS with my Note 8

anyone having issues with NFC in this case tried using NFC at the atm last night and it wouldn't recognize it. anyone else having the same issue

I noticed the last few days the case isn't for sale on amazon and currently unavailable from them. Makes me wonder if they're revising it and making it without one like the s8.
