Welcome to Android Central! Uninstalling preinstalled apps almost always requires rooting--are you willing to do that?

yeah, I know it mostly does require root. But on LG's UX you can uninstall some of the pre-installed apps without rooting(I have a LG G2 so I know that). There are some of sony's pre-installed apps like what's new, social-life, lifelog, movie creator, xperia lounge, and the playstation apps that I don't find useful so I wonder if you can disable or uninstall them. I haven't had a sony phone in years so I don't know.

Hello,

There's absolutely no need to be root to uninstall factory apps on the XPeria. I also did it as first thing when I received mine. I don't have a Playstation so I uninstall the two PSN apps and many other Sony apps I don't care. Some can't be uninstalled because they are included in the ROM, so, to avoid having them running in the background as process, you can just disable them.

I disabled these apps which can't be completely uninstalled :
- Sony calendar as I prefer Google calendar
- Chinese and japanese Xperia keyboards
- Sony SMS app as I prefer Hangouts
- Sony weather app and widget because I use an alternate launcher and it's only compatible with the Sony default launcher
- Movie Creator
- Playstation Video as I don't intend to rent movies on Sony's platform
