Now that I have downloaded, installed, and uninstalled a ton of apps is there a good way to clean up all of the orphaned crap left behin after an uninstall. I have found things from uninstalled apps in the cache, empty folders left behind, etc... what is the best way to clean this up?

Just giving this another bump... there are definately fragments left behind because I have uninstlled doodle2 after playing with it for a day or two and every time my phone looks for updates it tries to reinstall it.
bump. i'm interested too and if there isn't an app, what can i delete, and what do i need to keep?

The only think that should be left after uninstalls is the data files on your SD card just use Astro to delete them or connect your PC and delete them that way.

Only other thing you really can do is this in addition to hard reset if it keeps trying to reinstall it's not like a computer u can just defrag. Before I uninstall an app I always clear the data and cache first...not sure if that helps or not

i think Android is pretty efficient at uninstalling all remnants of uninstalled apps from your phone. as a previous poster mentioned - just clean up your microSD card with Astro.
and don't worry about killing apps either.

could you be more specific when you say "cleanup your microsdcard with astro"? i have astro, but i have no idea what can be dumped and what can't...thanks!
you can delete anything you don't want that's not associated with an installed app. be careful.
Look for the associated folders on the SD card and delete those folders. I do that on occasion, but frankly, it makes little to any difference. Stopping the application, clearing its data and deleting the application does it. Also there is an application that clears the device cache that you might want to look t, though it helps with over all memory, not memory related to a specific application.

Somewhere in all of the posting I saw something about defragging sd cards. I haven't been able to locate again. The question is can we connect the phone as an removable disk and use the windows defragger on the sd card, and will this make it easier or quicker for the android system to find files?
