Unlock N20U when using automation?

Hello everyone, i'm new to the Note 20 Ultra coming from my iphone 10s Max. With my iphone i could tell siri to "turn on the kitchen light" or "turn on the porch light" without having to unlock my phone. With the Note 20 Ultra when i say "hey google turn off the kitchen light" it tells me i need to unlock my phone first. Is this a setting I can turn off or am I going to have to live with this? Thanks for any help!

I believe you have to unlock your phone to use assistant.

For unlocking it's a andriod security feature won't let you , but try Samsung bixby for assistant

Samsung Bixby isn't that great. It won't even turn on my wemo lights etc. Google seems to better. So there's no way around having to unlock the phone to use Google for automation?

Bixby assist for phone and google assistant for other things , can use both !

Not sure if you tried enabling this option in Google Assistant but it's worth a shot.
