Unlock password bypass?

Hi peeps,
I just picked a a bunch of phones really cheap at a yard sale, one of which was a OV. However when I turn it on it has a password protection on it. Is there a way to bypass/ change this without doing a total factory reset?

I hope there is because I don't wanna do a factory reset if its been rooted and brick it.

Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Reset from recovery.. with phone off hold home + vol down + power until you see lg logo for a few seconds. When in recovery use volume buttons to scroll and select format data / factory reset. Depending on recovery home or camera button is select button. After resetting select reboot

If it has clock work recovery its rooted if not then factory reset..
