Unlock with pattern question

I love everything about my S7E better than my Nexus 6P, except the finger print reader. It was flawless on my 6P. On the S7E, I have often have to touch it many times, let it relearn my finger prints, etc. So I'm just wanting to go back to a pattern lock, like on my S5. I have done that, but there is an extra step compared to my S5. After I power on, I have to swipe up on the screen to get the pattern unlock screen to appear. On the S5, as soon as I power it on, it displays the pattern.

Is there a way to turn off the "swipe to unlock" screen?

After more searching, it seems this is a function of MM and up. Sucks to have an extra step, but it's still quicker than trying the finger print reader until the pattern lock comes up after enough failures.

Yes, they give you new features but take some good ones away too... I don't much like Nougat I have to say...

I'm not a Nougat fan either, but to be fair, this was an MM thing apparently.
