Unlocked At&t Note 5 Not Updating?

I have an unlocked At&t Note 5 on android 5.1.1, i'm trying to update to 6.0.1 . When I try going into "About device" and "Software update" it says my current software is up to date.

I'm not using at&t as my carrier, I have Metro PCS. Should I try using an at&t sim card?

Yup, AT&T is very (in)famous for locking their device updates to having an AT&T SIM. You can also go to a Best Buy store and they'll update it for you.

I use my unlocked AT&T Note 5 on Straight Talk and it updated. It has an AT&T Straight Talk SIM though. Maybe that's the difference.

Get a prepaid sim card from AT&T and you should be able to get the update. But yeah, it won't update unless there's an AT&T sim card in it.

Yup, you have an AT&T SIM in it, so it'll update.

Or a 'service station' is used. Most Best Buys with a Samsung Experience booth will have this and can update the phone for you in store, without the AT&T SIM.

Also you can connect it to Smart Switch on your computer and update it.

Best Buy is the easiest and quickest option IMO, of one is close to you. Go to the Samsung counter.

What can I do is I am not in the US? I have an Att unlocked note 5 in Canada. Can't get the update, tried everything. Any advice? Getting an Att sim isn't an option for me
