I want to play with custom Roms but i will probably break something on the phone after I do it, does unlocking the boot loader and installing a custom ROM completely void the warranty?

(Bought it from Google play)

While it is in the rooted/unlocked state yes.

But... Being a Nexus there is a very easy return back to complete factory stock and locked bootloader with no sign left behind of rooting.

Yes. You could always flash it back to stock & try wugz tool kit it makes it nice and simple.

I'm afraid I'm going to f*** up the USB port (phone falls or something while charging)

Well in that case then if you feel prone to accidents... I wouldn't root.

But if you do it opens a whole new world of fun for you to enjoy with custom ROMs

Even if you didn't root and had an accident such as that warranty likely won't cover it. Get comfortable with rooting, read up on it extensively, understand how to unbrick/restore a device then root the beast waiting to be unleashed. The Nexus line of devices were made to be rooted/bootloader unlocked, in my personal opinion of course.
