Unlocked bootloader question.

I have 2 nexus 7 tablets, 1 is unlocked the other is not. The locked version received 5.0 and the other has not. Somewhere I read not to take the OTA being unlocked but I can't find that post, question is, can this effect the update? Should I lock it? Anyone experience this. Thanks
