Unlocked hboot 1.5 using HTC Now what?

I am unlocked. S-On though. Now how do I actually root this thing, or am I rooted now with the stock ROM ?? I went to clearROM but i could not find how to actually do anything on that site.

It sounds like you unlocked the bootloader but haven't installed Superuser yet. That is what truly makes you rooted. I have hboot 1.4 so I used Revolutionary. I don't know much about 1.5 process but this thread has a lot of information.

Nothing I am doing is working. I installed a super user app I saw on the market hoping it would get me more info. Nope.

OK, there are lots of people who could help. I wish I could. In the meantime, to give someone who knows how to root this way something to go by, could you describe what you've tried so far?

To make life easier you may want to download the Flash Image GUI app from the market. Yes, it's $.99 but it will save you so much hastle with getting ROMs installed with hboot 1.5. As you may or may not know, when you flash a ROM from recovery is doesn't install the kernel as it can't access the proper partitions without s-off. The Flash Image GUI app will preflash the kernel for you (from the original ROM zip file) and get that part done for you prior to flashing the ROM. Works like a charm! You can also use it to install other recovery images. It's worth every penny, I promise you that, especially if you like to flash ROMs a lot (like me!).

+1 for FlashImageGUI - it makes it so freaking easy for those of us on HBoot 1.5

download/copy ROM to root of sdcard
run Flash Image to extract kernal and wipe
reboot to recovery and install ROM from zip
enjoy freedom
