Unlocked HTC One from Amazon arrived in Italian?

Well I did order the international version, but I wasn't expecting it to come in Italian, with a sticker on the box instructing me how to change the language on powerup. It also displays a TIM (Telecom Italia Mobile) splash screen when I turn it on, playing the animation twice for some reason, and also has several Italian TIM apps that I can't uninstall. Seems a little strange to me...I'm thinking of returning it and buying from HTC online store directly. What do you guys think?

Good question. I thought maybe you ended up with an Italian retailer...but obviously not.

I don't think the language should affect the value, and it'll work like all other Ones, so I guess I'd say go with your gut. It's too expensive an item to have reservations.

The HTC store should surely be the correct language.

The unlocked Ones sold on the HTC store should also be the international version? And not AT&T/Sprint/T-Mobile or any of the other editions like Google Play, Developer, etc.

Yes, although I think it IS considered to be the developer edition.
