Unlocked Note 7 (US)

Just for reference, the Verizon s7 got both the June and July security patches.

We have to wait and see how the major OS updates are handled between carrier and unlocked version. Theoretically should be easier and fast to update the unlocked version but don't trust if Samsung will actually do that.

At this point I feel they just released the US unlocked model for the sake of it and don't really care to keep it updated.

That's actually really disappointing to hear about the unlocked version. Thanks for your input y'all. I might actually stick with the Verizon branded one now.

I also heard it's possible to flash the unlocked (US) firmware on a carrier branded device as well. (Through udin or something? I'm unfamilar with the process.) But if I was able to knock out all the bloatware completely and have all the bands accessible, I'd have no issues with a carrier branded model.

Guess we will see but so far, not getting timely security patches is not a good sign

On the s7 there is a way... Not sure if it would apply to the note 7. I would wait to buy , if this is very important to you. It is also somewhat involved.. I would only recommend to those who are technically inclined.
