Curious if the unlocked on t-mobile still gets the new 5G Stand alone or do you have to load the Tmobile software.

I believe you will have to load the TMO Carrier version , but I'll wait for the OTA on the unlocked to find out

Thats what I was thinking...thanks as always
I'll wait before I flash the unlocked to verify, but that's some of the perks you get with carrier version vs unlocked. I mean I can still turn off 5G and use the other network mode LTE/3G/2g

I use US unlocked on T-Mobile and get 5G without issue. Who should you need the carrier version for that?

When TMo launched stand alone I know my OnePlus needed a software update for it to work, but Samsung's unlocked may already be configured for it. Not sure.

Nope....I don't have TMo and in don't know what that means with regard to unlocked verses carrier model.

I don't completely know what it means for unlocked vs carrier. I'm not sure if Samsung's firmware works out of the box with stand alone 5G or if it's something carriers need to implement their own software for. Seems like it would just be built into Samsung's firmware, but I'm not versed in all that. I do know stand alone 5G is capable of lower latency and faster speeds b/c it doesn't rely on LTE as the sorta backbone.

I'm running the latest unlocked firmware (ATI1) on my unlocked N20U on TMO. My status bar says 5G; is there any way I can tell whether it's 5G SA?
