unlocked us Galaxy S8 receiving update

I'm downloading the update now. I never really understood why unlocked phones got updated last. You would think out of all the variations an unlocked phone would be the easiest to implement. No carrier garbage to work around.

Nice update. I like the navigation bar fixes. It makes apps look much better That's what bothered me the most about using this phone.

I like the nav bar fix as well but I've found it doesn't always play nice with some apps. But still I'd rather have the option than not.

I also like the fact that Samung's is keeping us fairly current as far as security patches go. I usually didn't see the patches on my 5X until the middle of the month so I can live with the end of the month.

Got on my unlocked US S8 as well just now.

Agree I still don't get why this was last compared to other career version. I mean first you develop the update for your base firmware which means it should be ready for the unlocked non carrier version, then you apply that or modify to the million different customized crappy carrier firmwares.

I'm not sure why we won't get way before the carrier ones but hey atleast it's an improvement this year that we are getting updates close to carrier models unlike previous years where unlocked US model updates were non existent.

Agreed on seeing this as an improvement. Even though I am new to Samsung phones I have seen the complaints from users over the lack of timely security patches.

When I first got my S8 I was prompted to install the June patch and now we're getting this one. So I have to say good job as well. Let's hope Samsung can continue to keep this going.

OEMs really need to take the security updates seriously and this seems like a step forward for Samsung.

I just received mine after had getting it originally before I flashed my phone to unlock it from sprint. When I did that I lost my update but just got it today. It's weird bc I'm still having trouble unlocking my device even though I'm technically unlocked and fully flashed. I've got a buddy of mine who's going to look at it tonight. Hopefully he'll get it figured out.
