Unlocking black screen to enable Kies - Samsung Note 5

My screen crashed randomly, so I have a black screen.

If I touch the lock button on the side or the middle button my touch buttons light up.

I need to send my phone back to samsung for repair but I need to get all my data/photos off the device. I have installed Kies (for Mac compatibility), but it says connected device is locked so I cant access it.

I have tried to use Samsung's locate my device to unlock the screen, however it can't locate my device, or unlock it. I don't think I enabled the setting on my device when it was still working.

Is there a way that I can enter my lock screen code on the computer (mac) that I have connected my device to via usb?

Or is there a way I can bypass this lock code?

My phone provider Optus is pretty useless when I went in store I was told to just download Kies as they dont have facilities to transfer data between devices.

Not without a working screen.

Even if they did, the phone has to be unlocked.

There's this thing called "backing up your important files". That way yo don't lose them.
