unlocking bootloader? Nexus one. does it wipe data?

when you unlock bootloader on nexus one using fastboot. does this wipe your data and apps? if so? how do you back up apps and data?

Yes it does, use a backup app from the market to backup the apps and data. Or when you log back in with your google account when turning the phone back on for first use, the apps will start downloading again. Most of the important stuff will be backed up to google if you use their services.
