Unlocking Phone stop it from being updated?

Hi I have got my phones (S4) unlocked as I am going abroad, I have some issues see other post, but I ontop of this found put it doesnt let me update the phone, I can update apps but not the phone software and it says "you cant update as the device has been modified"

Is this normal? I wouldnt of risked it if I knew this would happen.

It shouldn't happen. Bring the phone to the carrier and ask them to please fix the problem they obviously caused.

Hi Thankx I wil do, want to but have to make sure, I know Iphones dont update once unlocked just had no idea galaxy is the same. and this phone was more less new and perfect when I got it.
