Unofficial Best Buy Pre-order thread. Post here when BB calls you!

Just got my call to come in on Thursday. He even said they are gonna open up an hr early that day in the Mobile Department, so he gave me a 9:30 appointment.

That was actually good of Best Buy, because I was just about to change my pre-order to Verizon. Saw the "SMART30" promo code, and since 1yr contract is $230 almost pulled the trigger.....

Went to my local Best Buy to pick up a video game this morning. I decided to check up on my preorder and ask him about when I can get it. He said " We HOPE Thursday the 29th..." I then asked him if I can just come in anytime to get the phone, and he said " We will be calling people Wednesday Night when the truck comes in with the shipment, to setup a time for you to come in a pick-up the phone, because we will most likely be really busy that day....."

So it sounds like people who have been called, there store most likely has them in stock now, other stores might not get them til Wed. night.

My concern now is, when will they call me and what time will I get? I think I was one of the first ones to preorder, but from what I could see they weren't keeping an order, or list, just taking money and giving a gift card.

Well that would suck. We got there fairly soon after they opened on the 18th and were told the first phones out of the box would be reserved for us. Hope that's still true!

Just called the Best Buy where we "preordered". She told me the list was very short, and confirmed mine and my wife's names and phone numbers. They expect a drop-shipment Wednesday evening and I was told again to expect a phone call to set up appointments for Thursday. She informed me they could not sell the phones before Thursday no matter when they receive them.

For reference, the store is in Houston, TX.

Also, the VZW site still says preorder by 4pm on the 28th and receive the phone on the 29th. What to do, what to do?!

its all good, read my above post. literally 30min after i walked out of the store, i got a call saying that I could come in at 930 Thursday morning, because they were opening an hour early.

Preordered 2 Incredibles on the 19th, the BB mobile guy told me they'd get the shipment on the 25th, but would be allowed to sell the phones no earlier then the 29th... Not sure if I'll get a call from them for an appointment (why is that even necessary?)...

No clue why it's necessary, except that maybe they think they'll be busy? I just dont think there will be THAT much craziness over this phone....

I'm just hoping I get the call tomorrow sometime.

yeah, the guy said its because they think its gonna be busy, and they wanna help you set it up.
Personally, I would rather just pay for the phone and take it home, charge the battery, then activate it. I asked him if that was possible and he said no, you have to activate it in store, to get the 2yr discount. Something erks me about the Best Buy guy having his grubby little hands all over my incredible b4 me and not being able to charge it fully before using it.

I was just having a conversation with my wife about how we just want to pick the phone up and activate it later. I'd like to be the first to jack with my phone, thanks.

so I couldn't wait for bestbuy to call me any longer, so I called them (southern CA). They told me they don't have them in yet, but they will "definitely have them thursday". I asked if that was a guarantee, and she said yes...she also said I could just come in whenever I want thursday, so maybe this store isn't doing appointments?

I just want to be 100% I'm going to have the incredible on thursday, cause I could still preorder online...

FWIW the gal at my local BB said I could just take the box and activate it myself, but I'm paying full price too. They agreed to price match $529...

yea, thats what the guy at BB said, if I wanted to just take the box out, I would have to pay retail for it, not the 2yr discount price

Well I can understand why you'd have to pay retail, but I still don't like it!
I'm assuming I can sign up for the $269 deal with a 1-year instead of $199 for a 2-year, even at Best Buy?
