Unresponsive Lock screen / Lock screen Lag after Lollipop 5.0 Update (Galaxy S5 - SM G900H)

The first time I updated to Lollipop, which was like a month ago if I remember correctly, I faced a lot of issues - Forced crashing of apps, Restarting of phone, etc. But 2 days a ago, there was another Software Update after which the phone pretty much started running smoothly - but there was a catch.

Once the Screen times out and the Screen is turned off, it doesn't turn on at all. No matter if I press the Power Button or the Home Button, it just doesn't turn on. I can see the Home Button Light up for a few seconds, but the Screen just doesn't turn on. SOMETIMES it does turn on, but only after I've pressed the Power/Home buttons 10-20 times. This too is occasional sadly. Turning OFF my phone is a better idea then the screen time out sadly. This is very frustrating, hopefully somebody can help me fix this (if there is a fix, or else I will have to smash my phone to pieces😂).

Things I've tried! -

1. Restarting my phone. (That's what I have to do to use my phone again every time)

2. Factory Reset.

3. Wipe Cache Partition.

4. Started my phone without a Memory card.

I keep looking for different solutions over the internet and keep trying the. Out, but nothing happens.

P.S.- I don't even have a Lockscreen now. I've disabled the lock screen entirely, but still the same problem. So it's not a Lock screen Lag technically, but I don't know what to call it : /

Welcome to Android Central! You may want to try reflashing the firmware using Smart Switch (or Kies, if compatible with the S5). Or bring it to your local Best Buy Samsung Store, and ask them to help you reflash the firmware.

Thank You for the reply! One question, do you mean reinstalling Lollipop 5.0 or going back to earlier versions? Would you recommend that?

You can ask them to try reinstalling the current (most recent) firmware first, in case something glitched when you did the OTA update.
