Unresponsive power button?

I'm suddenly having a non responsive power button and it happens if I wanted to manually put the phone on timeout (instead of waiting for my 1 min setting). I can still get the drop down menu when I hold the power button down, but once shut off (or the timeout setting kicks in) I cannot get it to come back on. I've removed the battery several times and did a factory reset :(

Anyone having this issue and or have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

No issues with mine aside from the fact that it is a pain-in-the-butt to find the damn button. Wish it stuck out at least 1 mm more.

I don't even dl a ton of apps, I'm more of a messenger/txt/web surfing user. The last thing I was doing was using the led light app someone suggested and 5 minutes later the power button stopped functioning :( I had nothing else running since I that auto kill app. Have not had single problem since launch until now :(

P.S. Be nice if the power button was slightly more lifted and camera in the back more pitted :P

I was having that problem but I took my case off and it seemed fine after that, maybe it was just the case blocking you from fully pushing down the button?

I also have this problem on reboot. I push that button down multiple times for a minute until it finally turns back on. I tried Carter's suggestion, and that seemed to work for me. I really need to push down, cleanly, for it to activate the phone.

I agree, at times I've found it a little tough to locate quickly and get it pushed in.

I also noted that I was a tad impatient. If I feel a "click" from the button, I need to wait 1-2 seconds for the screen to light up with the HTC logo. I guess I was expecting something to happen rather instantaneously. Hopefully, this helps out with your issue, too.

Yup, I noticed this too, there can be a slight lag, I've found a few times I'd get impatient and end up turning the display back off because I pushed it twice thinking it didnt respond.

Thanks for the feedback everyone :)

After staying up all night trying to figure out the problem, I finally got it up and running again :D After removing the battery and factory resetting several times, I decided to try and use a air spray can throughout the whole device as my last attempt. Before doing this, there was no sight of dust in the crevices of the power button either, I guess I was wrong. Now the power button works a lot better than before!

Here's hoping no other issue with the button occurs again :(
