Just started today. Opened phone and it takes about 10 seconds for the screen to start responding to any touches. Tried rebooting but nothing seems to fix the problem.
Anyone else experience this?

Is this a new, or new to you, device?

When did this start happening?

Have you installed anything new recently?

When you restarted your phone did you Restart, or Power down and Start your device?

As mustang7757 began to suggest, have you tried it in Safe Mode?

Do you have a screen protector on this device? A case?

What strikes me about the little information we're working with is that it appeared to be working, at least somewhat normally, you thought, when you turned off accidental touch. What it reminds me of is one of two things. Like the screen is dirty or a bad screen protector install. Either might cause some latency and making the screen more sensitive could cut down on that and depending on where the issue is, say you have lifting protector in a corner, touches close to that might respond quickly but father away might see it as a dual touch creating some delay. The other thing that it brings to mind is something in the background running. You might think powering off the device and restarting it would close or end all of that but if you notice none of the apps disappear from your quick switch screen when you just restart the phone. This is another reason to try Safe Mode. If some nefarious app is causing this, in safe mode all of those background processes are blocked. Which brings up another thought, what about the outside screen? I don't know the Flip that well but the outside screen is touch also, correct? Does it also suffer from this latency?

Please answer the questions and try Safe Mode, let us know what you find.

Started last night. No new apps installed. Same case on the phone since I got it the day it launched. Stock screen protector. Tried Safe Mode and it still happens.
Doesn't seem to happen with the outside screen.
I've found the way to get the screen to start working is by tapping the screen with multiple fingers at the same time.

Sorry for the late reply, I'm only on at certain times. Anyway, that almost sounds like it is intentional. If it happens in Safe Mode then it is more than likely system related, since most installed apps are blocked, and then multi touch unlocks it, almost like accidental touch is on. Meaning that only deliberate touches unlock the screen for use. One would imagine that being an outside screen feature vs an inside screen feature where you would likely have just unfolded the phone to show intention but these are good clues.

I went looking for this and found a video that says this is a software issue that seems to be known. They went on to say that they hope it will be patched soon...

What the poster is doing in the video is simulating a battery pull. Years ago, when batteries were actually removable certain glitches required a battery pull to fully kill the device and force a cold start. Introduce the non-removable battery, and glitches still exist that require a battery pull, so this technique was developed to offer the same benefit without the physical disconnect.

Give it a try and see if things clear up, and let us know what

I also found this Reddit that mentions it too if you wanted to read more about the glitches other users have found and other solutions they've come up with.
