Hey everyone,

Fairly new to these forums, but not new to Android at all. My wife and I just a Pixel 2 and a 2 XL respectively. Mine is running like a top. Hers is running mostly fine but now and then she gets an unresponsive screen above the navbar, requiring her to back out of what she's doing in order to make it work. Google told me to run it in safe mode for 4 hours but these are our main communication devices and running them in safe mode for 4 hours isn't going to cut it. Has anyone with a Pixel 2 (non-XL) run into this?

I don't understand why 4 hours.... Did they give you an explanation why?

Just tell them it still doesn't work and they should send you a new one.

Are you running the same installed apps? If so you could tell them you have the two devices, one works fine and not the other with the same apps.
You could do a factory reset and see if the problem still exists. If the problem still exists after a factory reset they should send you a replacement. If not, add apps back one at a time until the culprit is found.

She's mostly on Facebook, Messaging, FB Messenger, and plays a few games (mostly card games). I run FB and messenger as well on my 2XL and don't seem to have those issues. I may have to have her factory reset the device again. She's not gonna like that.

Nobody ever does :)

You can make phone calls and send text messages (using the stock Android Messages app) while in Safe mode.

Exactly! The stock phone and messages apps will work just fine.

The objective of running the phone in safe mode is to see if the problem occurs while third party apps are disabled. If the problem doesn't occur, that strongly points to an issue with one of the third party apps. Then it's a matter of hunting down the offending app and removing it. If the problem stems from a third party app, that's very important to know and it's an easy fix, so this isn't something you really want to fake, and it's not in your benefit to fake it.

If the problem still occurs while the phone is running in safe mode, then the next step is a factory reset. If that doesn't resolve the problem, then they will most likely suggest replacing the phone.

For the past ten days I have experienced similar issues on my 2 xl.... Could be when I tap the weather icon next to the time or that I use the default calendar as a widget and when I go to switch month to month there would be a very very very long delay and then jump to five months ahead or in the case of the weather it would open it five times if I hit that many times. That has since been fine within the past week now as of today when I go to use the dial pad on the default phone app there is a delay or if I go and click on a favorite to call same thing. What gives? Very frustrating!
