Now when I go to reroot the phone and it is testing the connection I get the following response:
adb is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
Then it tells me I am not connected and that I need to check the usb port, cable, phone and make sure the phone is set to charge only. Help please.

"adb.exe" needs to be in the windows directory you run your commands from. That is why you are getting that error about it not being recognized as a command.

Good catch Pete.... I read this without responding... but since you said this your solution makes total sense to me... if the OP was following the directions and going into the folder they put the ADB files in and then started the commands they would not have seen this error.

This is more general FYI than a response to this particular issue, but if you have a standalone .exe (or type of executable file for that matter) that you run from command prompt, you can copy that file to the %system% folder (i.e. "c:\windows\system32"), and it will run from from the command prompt regardless of what directory is selected.

In case of the root process, usually what you want to do is run command prompt from the same directory that you have "adb.exe" as well as any .zip files that will be pushing to the phone during the process.

So, let's say you place all the files for the root process into C:\TBroot folder, as described in the stickied ADB method. Then, when you open command prompt, you want to be sure that the prompt reads:

Code:
c:\TBroot >

Another FYI tip: If you're running Windows 7, you can right-click on a folder in explorer and select "Open Command Prompt Here" (or something to that effect), and a CMD window will open already set to that directory.

I had the same problem when I unrooted my last phone. I failed to follow directions and put it on the desktop, so I kept getting the same error. I just CD'd until I got to the desktop to finnally get it to work. Had I put it in C: as directed, it would have went alot smoother.
