Has anyone used the Universal Theme Kitchen online for the L55C? I have a couple of questions... I see its worked on the V...its supposed to work on stock roms as well. I just dont want to brick my phone in the process of trying this out. I'm trying to see if anyones done this...namely with the team hydro rom. And also if the binary should be set to 'amend scripting' or edify scripting... and if edify what do you pick from the dropdown? (EMMC, MTD, Galaxy, Optimus)

It works great bro. I've done it with the stalkon rom the hellicious rom and the team alpha rom all for the straight talk l55c

What about the binary option? And can you change animations with it? I'm curious about the binary thing the most...idk what option it should be.

You can change all of that. You just need to open up the zip that the UOT creates and decompile and place the signal bars etc in the PROPER place. Most the time it places the signal bars into the wrong apk. For the Optimus that is

You want to use edify. Amend is older and not used, if I am remembering correctly, for the Optimus Q. YES you can change your animation.

Just remember, adding a custom boot animation will add more to the size of your footprint tho for a ROM. Still is nice to change.

Thank you very much jon... I've been trying to figure this out but didn't want to flash anything unnecessarily. I appreciate the help. I'm at church atm, but when I get out ill test it and update this.

Okay so I just flashed the UOT modded theme and it worked beautifully. It took two tries luckily I cooked every possible variant of the theme (eg Edify (Optimus, MTD, etc.). The edify variant that works on the LG Optimus Q is the MTD (Default). Animations work beautifully, I chose to do the Rudolf animations... i believe thats what it is called. This is a really cool little tweak tool... I thoroughly recommend everyone interested gives it a shot. Just remember to take the SystemUI.apk and the framework-res.apk directly from whatever rom you're using. I use the Hydro rom and I just opened the .zip and navigated to the two files, copied them to the desktop, and then uploaded them to UOT. WORKS BEAUTIFULLY. Thank you both for all your help!

Oh just remember to make a backup before you attempt this, and before you flash the .zip wipe your cache and delvik cache... DO NOT FACTORY RESET. Good luck!

Edit: Lol a little tip... build your theme all at once. If you reflash a theme it will delete your previous stuff I think. Cause I lost my animations after reflashing.

So I found out that the status bar icons are stored in lge-res.apk ... what's funny is if you decompile systemui and framework you see status bar icons in both. Another odd feature is the 4g logo in there... my question is if I were to upload lge-res.apk as the framework .apk do you think that would work for changing the status bar icons? I assume it wouldn't change much else but idk what exactly is in that file.

No you just need to COPY the images from the lge-res.apk and REPLACE them inside the framework-res.apk

you will need winrar or 7zip

Ill let you know how it works when I get to a comp... thanks again for your help!

Edit: wait wouldn't that be reversed? Copy from framework to lge-res? If framework is what's edited by the theme kitchen wouldn't you have to theme icons by copying those from framework to lge-res? I really don't know that's just what seems logical to me. Thanks again though... I do appreciate the input.

lol... okay this is as close as i can get to a full theme thus far.

I'm able to change everything from animations (I have these animations Custom Animation ACID Lestatious: - YouTube ), to the font (which you can somewhat see on there). I've got a custom boot animation. My notification dropdown is black with 50% opacity so you can see through it. Um, that battery icon is animated those circles rotate, but I cannot for the life of me get the signal bar to change... still working on figuring that one out.

Alright I'm wrong. The status bars are located in the SystemUI.apk. They're prefixed with sprint_ and I believe that's probably why UOT cant change them. There is also a ton of them, 1 green, and 1 grey/white for every scenario of the status bar. My guess would be you'd have to copy each one individually adn replace both the grey/white and the green (google sync'd)... leaving them the same name as what they're replacing. I may give this a shot, as I'm pretty sure I know how to do it at this point. It's just going to be a pain...

Edit: They're in SystemUI.apk\res\drawable-mdpi\ prefixed with sprint_

You'd only have to change the green icons. Unless you don't want the white bars. I stumbled upon this issue when I started my ICS theme for the optimus slider. Its pretty easy quick fix. Just use gimp to change your green icons to which ever color you'd like. Do not use paint because paint doesn't save transparent backgrounds, with that case by using paint you'll have a nastly looking white box behind your signal bars.
So gimp is the way to go (its also free)

Ah that's a good idea... that way I still know when its synced. Its funny how you forget the simple things when you first look at something... I want a cyan looking signal... like the theme above. I just had to breakdown the apks to figure where the signal bars were... good call! Thanks

That was a pain!!! I couldn't get gimp or photoshop to change the color of the signal bars to anything but grey. So I finally went with my way... and it was ridiculously stressful. But here's the finished product...

If anyones interested in this final product let me know. Ill upload the flashable .zip though I'm probably going to change the battery icon to the one in the first image. This was a very long process and I've spent a ton of time working on this theme. You would have the custom animations a la the first youtube link. The font you'd have to change yourself... these status bars only change when you're synced with google. Once you sync you go from 6 bars to 4 and they turn this cyan color. My boot image is drizzle android which matches the cyan above. I've got a few tweaks to make before ill be completely done... but its pretty close. I need to get the signal strength ported properly... right now you would only get that third bar if you had 5 on the original six bar signal. I'm going to change that to 4 and then it should be pretty perfect... I'm going to lose my girlfriend if I keep screwing around with this phone.
