...I had avoided updateing since I bought my HTC one at&t, but finally bit in... Very sorry i did, like the OP. The official AT&T update sucks horribly! My lock screen scrolling gallery is gone with no way to set it back, it seems. I loved that, and want it back. My battery life has dropped in half, and charging takes longer. The battery use tracker says the android system is using all the battery, even more than the display.
