Update coming to HTC EVO 4G LTE

Re: Update coming to HTC evo 4g lte

For the record, if there is such a website I have nothing to do with it. However I do have kittens and children and burst is crucial for getting good pictures of them.

I looked to see if there was and what do you know.... there is site called Titty Cats | Cleavage

Re: Update coming to HTC evo 4g lte

But now you find yourself thinking that the website (or at least saying you work for the website) doesn't sound like a half bad idea.....

Curiosity got the better of me and it turns out someone stole my idea. There are only about a dozen pictures so far though. They claim they will donate proceeds to the ASPCA and to breast cancer research.

Re: Update coming to HTC evo 4g lte

Think apple will have IOS 10 and the iPhone 8 out first. Might as well give up, buy a DNA and use it on my sprint account to have both sense and jb on a stock HTC device

Re: Update coming to HTC evo 4g lte

How is it that they can use the excuse that there are issues with the update if they're releasing it now on new phones and on the One X? The true fact is that, yes, they have our money for our phones. They don't have to release anything to us. Look at what they did with the EVO 3D. It took over a YEAR to get the updated software. But a couple months before they actually released it to our phones they had it on the GSM version and the Virgin Mobile version came out with the update. There was nothing that could've been wrong with it. The problem is either they're dragging their feet on releasing it, or they have a problem with it and they don't have the manpower to fix it quick enough. With the new program that Google implemented where manufacturers are getting the update 2-3 months before it's official announcement, they'll still take 6-12 months to release an update. HTC said they would focus on quality over quantity going forward, and I've yet to see that happen. All they know is that they have Sense, which is highly desirable, and great build quality phones. They could sell these phones knowing people want just that and not updates. The fact that they don't openly say what's causing these problems, or why it's taking so long is more than enough to determine they're not in a hurry to help the end-user get the update.

I'll excuse the evo 3d ics upgrade since they were coming from 2.3.x (a fairly huge ui jump), the photon 4g never even got any ICS. I'm sure those users would rather have a buggy version than the crappy $100 moto credit.

Also, ICS came out 12/2011, evo 3d got it in August 2011. 8 months not 12 months.

A 5 month turnaround time is actually fast for HTC, esp since the 1X int came out before the evolte. It just feels longer, since Samsung beat them to the punch this time.

Re: Update coming to HTC evo 4g lte

I use Exchange and it works just fine.

I know with stock sense it makes me use a passcode to unlock my phone (not a big but getting used to it). Was keeping my fingers crossed that I could bypass that with cm10. Or at least not have to see the sense number pad each time.

That's a good point. To tell you the truth, I've been using a pin since I set up CM10, so I'm not really sure if you'll be forced to use one with Exchange or not.

Re: Update coming to HTC evo 4g lte

If you're on Sprint, and bought the phone on contract, you didn't pay nearly what the phone is worth. I, for one, don't have a lot of the issues that people are mentioning here - and, honestly, I feel that the vast majority of Sprint users don't, either. If the majority were having these issues then things would happen much more quickly. Don't get me wrong - I'm not discounting the people that ARE having issues. What I am saying is that Sprint/HTC aren't going to risk pissing off considerably more people by rushing an update - if they get it majorly wrong they go out of business.)

The issue is that they released an update that flat out broke the phone for some of us and left us twisting in the wind. So many of us just want them to undo what they did with another update whether that be Jelly Bean or a fix for this specific issue.

It would be one thing if the phone had this behavior out of the box. We could have chosen to to return the phone and choose another option. But they broke it months after release and now we're stuck with it and they have our money.

Re: Update coming to HTC evo 4g lte

I take too many pictures to switch to cm10. I have to have burst mode cause my kids are always doing cute stuff but they tend not to do it for long. I also have kittens so I can invite over every busty woman I meet for kittens and cleavage shots for my website with the same name that is my only source of income. It's just too hard to take the pics with a DSLR.

Does this phone match the One X exactly? That's an emphatic "NO." Same situation regarding GSM phones, etc. We have an SD card slot and different physical radios - AND A KICKSTAND! The LTEvo, also, has to meet Sprint's requirements.

True, we don't know all of the details - but then again we aren't major Sprint/HTC investors. Given the size of this thread, and others, both HTC and Sprint know that there is some discontent in the ranks of LTEvo users regarding JB/Updates. But don't expect any company, or country, to openly shout out their problems or weaknesses - that invites invasion (for lack of a better term.)

Companies, and most people, don't openly broadcast their problems or weaknesses. From a company standpoint it would affect investment in their company, from an individual standpoint - well... imagine walking into Central Park in NYC and screaming "I have herpes!" The effects are similar, though not necessarily linear.

Sprint and HTC, both, know that there is quite a bit riding on the LTEvo and the happiness of it's user base. Just don't expect them to publish every little weakness, or problem, that they may have - that just fuels the fires and gives their corporate competition something to use. They both know that if they majorly fail in this then it will affect the bottom line of both companies for quite a while.

You can be sure that Sprint is watching this carefully since the EVO line is their flagship - just don't expect Dan Hesse to tell each and everyone of us what is going on.

Many people on here have many different problems but let's not forget that the phone has the real problem not the people

It was actually released in October of 2011, so 10 months. I said year as an exaggeration, but not to the severity that you tried to point out.

In my mind, I always say Dec since that's when the Verizon version came out. GSM version always get it first anyways.

You are right, we are paying a lot MORE than what the phone is worth, built into the monthly fees for two years. I would much rather have the option to buy any phone I want, at full but market-discounted rates, and pay much less for service and with no contracts. I really, really would love the option to buy any phone I want and use that phone on any carrier I want... but I know that is REALLY asking too much (at least in the USA).

Re: Update coming to HTC evo 4g lte

January 3rd is the new date. Without going into too many specifics, I captured several cane toads and boiled them for a few hours. Then I drained the water and let it evaporate in the sun. Finally I vaporized the residue and inhaled deeply. I subsequently conversed with Peter Chou, Dan Hesse, and a guy claiming to be Jesus. They all told me January 3rd
