update failed, in need of some help

hello

i have a rooted epic touch and I have tried OTA ics update and manual update and they both fail on me. It loads up to half way and then I get a triangular "!" mark and stays on that screen. I have no problem keeping gingerbread however my phone keeps alerting me to update. I've tried to search the forum, but there are too many posts about ICS update. I'd like to either update to ICS with some help or disable the notification about the update

Do you have custom recovery installed? And by manual update, do you mean just the ota.zip or a one click of FF18?

I would go to xda and download the el26 cwm5 kernel. Then after that download darkknight2 aokp port from right here on android central. Then download the gapps in the op. That is by far the best from I have been on for ics.

You modified SOMETHING else other than rooting it. It is verifying the integrity of the device and that check is failing. ODIN back to unrooted stock (EL29) and let the update do it's job.

EDIT: Or, you can do as patrao_n stated.

Also if you just want to stay on gingerbread you could use titanium backup and freeze the system updates apk from tiba. Then reboot recovery( volume up and power ) and clear cache

Should i try doing the one click FF18?

I forgot about one clicks lol. Those will by far be the easiest. Either the ff18 or the newest fh13 would be the ones you want

Personally, I haven't had a chance to use the FH13 rom , since the links leading to chris41g site is down , and the original links aren't zipped so of course my hash check fails.

When did you check last? They got the links back up for his kernel and modem repos. Dunno about the rom though because I don't want it lol.

Might wanna check if your modem/kernel/rom are completely EL29. The OTA FF18 only works if you have those stock EL29 (rooted shouldn't matter though, but the OTA will remove root if you have it).
