Update: It looks like it was the Gamestop preloaded games that were crashing the 7. This issue seems to be resolved and while officially the next batch is supposed to come in late September they expect new shipments will start to come in next week or the week after.

I called Gamestop today to check on my order and was told I would have to wait until September. They said they received an email from corporate stating that they had to pull any units they currently had and that the new expected delivery date was sometime in September. Not wanting to believe one source, I called up their general Customer Service number and they confirmed the story.

I'm a little bit bummed now.

HA! looks like google wants their Nexus 7's back to fill out the pre orders probably

Re: Gamestop says stock pulled delayed till Sept.

So u better believe i quickly got on the phone with my local gamestop! Turns out they called me twice over the weekend but the number they had on there system was my old number.....makes me sad. They sold there last one yesterday. The guy a spoke to said he would call me back with a definte day. Sucks pretty bad.

Re: Gamestop says stock pulled delayed till Sept.

This is odd, stock pulled? My nephews was defective and he got a new on today from them. So much for pulling their stock.

However the 16g is in short supply.

Re: Gamestop says stock pulled delayed till Sept.

Seems odd they would pull be inventory they already had without there being some sort of recall caused by a discovered defect (no news of that happening).

I suspect maybe it was worded wrong. Perhaps they meant they are pulling back future shipments they were expecting in August?

Re: Gamestop says stock pulled delayed till Sept.

Maybe just maybe google suspended them from selling them? Because they sold them early??? I don;t think it is due to defects, I just bought my wife a Nexus 7 this morning from Office depot. They too would have pulled their inventory.

I think this is what they must have meant. Punishment for breaking release date? That sucks because I was on wave 2 for 8/7. Guess I'll run over to SC after work to see if they have any. Last week the guy told me 7/19.

AlphaVictor87: I don't think PS orders were affected by retail stock.

What I didn't put in my original post because it was not confirmed by both is my local Gamestop said they had to send them back to the manufacturer because of a software issue. General customer service did not mention that and since that was not confirmed by 2 sources I didn't put it in my original message, also that sounded hokey.

Re: Gamestop says stock pulled delayed till Sept.

Well software issues can be patched. I'd much rather have my Nexus 7 with software issues than be made to wait more. Fortunately mine is on a truck for delivery today (from Play). Stinks though for people waiting on Gamestop orders. And curious.

Re: Gamestop says stock pulled delayed till Sept.

I think they worded it wrong. I'm an acquaintance to the local manager (not exactly friends as we don't hang out) and he mentioned the "stock pull" Friday. If it's the same thing that the OP is talking about they aren't pulling them from the stores, they are pulling the extras. Some stores are slated to sell tablets, others only get ordered product. Those slated to sell tablets got extra and put them on the shelf. Gamestop corporate decided they needed to pull those and until further notice only pre-orders will be shipped to the stores. That's so they can get wave three out of the way quicker being that the August 7th wave 2 has pretty much been delivered already.

It's only fair after all. If you pre-order one (it's still called that even though street date has passed) you should get it as soon as possible. Before the guy who just happened to walk in and see one that is.

Again though, that's assuming the OP is talking about the same situation but was given bad advice. As a matter of fact a recall for software issues is just wrong anyway. It would be easier to send OTA updates like they are than to get them all back, open them, flash them, seal them back up, and ship them back out.

Yeah, when he said software issue I thought come on dude, that can be fixed with an OTA but figured that is what corporate told him to say. I hope I'm wrong and I get mine before September.

Re: Gamestop says stock pulled delayed till Sept.

You will I'm sure. I got two from them in a few days, the second being ordered Friday as a replacement for the first. Asus is absolutely blowing away all shipping predictions. Expect it by the end of the month based partly on past experience and partly because I just like to guess. ;)

Re: Gamestop says stock pulled delayed till Sept.

That all sounds very strange. My Gamestop experience:

- Pre-ordered Wed. night 11th. Clerk thought they might be released next day.
- Thurs. am: Got a phone call from the clerk saying distribution had been put on hold, but "soon".
- Friday am: Got an automated phone call from Gamestop telling me my pre-order was ready to pick up.
- Friday noon: Picked up at store.
- Sunday pm: Noticed horrific wifi reception (I think antenna was not connected, first time I tried to connect to anything but the tethered phone a foot away).
- Sunday pm: Took back to store, they gave me another one - last one in store, should have belonged to the guy who left an invalid phone number as his contact.

Re: Gamestop says stock pulled delayed till Sept.

I've seen a couple other people reporting over at XDA that Gamestop told them their order would not be ready until September 30th. :(

Very strange, indeed. I bought mine at GS on the 3rd, called them on the 5th to tell them I wanted to exchange it (due to insensitive screen), they called Corporate (I was their only pre-order) and I picked up a new one yesterday.

Do u live in NJ, if so u probably have mine lol.

Re: Gamestop says stock pulled delayed till Sept.

Yeah, when I checked on one Monday at Gamestop they told me I could order one but, I wouldn't get it until September. They said the only ones they had were for people who preordered. I should get the one I preordered from the Play store soon so it doesn't matter.
