Update released to improve fingerprint recognition

So far I'm actually having a worse experience than before the update. It recommend clearing out fingerprints and re-add them. I can not get the tablet to fully register a fingerprint now. Keep getting halfway through the process and then it says, "Make sure your finger covers the entire sensor."

No matter what I do I can't get it to fully register a finger, it eventually tells me to clean the sensor but my screen has been wiped clean from the start and a few times in between.

I do have a tempered glass screen protector on but had no problem registering fingerprints before this latest update.

Yeah the optical finger print scanner is trash IMO. My ultrasonic one works better on my N10+. But for me after this update it works a little bit better now.
 
Same problem here! Worked well before the update even with a glass screen protector. Now I can't register a print. I get the same message you do!
 
They mentioned in the notes, one should redo the registration. It's a pain, but if it improves safety ...
 
I'm having issues also. I had a glass screen protector which worked fine before update. Not working after update. I deleted the fingerprints and went to register again. Took me about 20 min to register thumb. Finally did, it worked once and won't work anymore. Can't even get indix finger registered.

I don't have a screen protector and also had one heck of a time to get my 2 fingers registered again. Was pain in the aaaaaassssss. Keep trying, it will eventually work. It did for me after I almost was going to lose it and smash that tablet lol
 
Working poorly for me with glass screen protector. It was about 80% before update, now it's about 20%. May have to ditch the screen protector

I don't have a screen protector and the re-registration process was a pain in the behind. Once you pass that, it's smooth and fast for me to use.
 
Well finger print reader is not working again. Probably just going to stop unlocking it that way and turn that off for good now. Maybe it will be fixed sometime in the future..
 
It's odd. I've had mine for 3 weeks. The scanner worked perfectly until today. Removed the fingerprints and re did them. Here's to hoping.
 
Well I just got this update today and now my fingerprint reader doesn't work, I can't even register any new fingerprints and it was working flawlessly before, so Samsung really improved it didn't they
Update : I just managed to register my thumb twice, what I had to do was make sure that I was using the flat of my thumb towards the joint, anything further forward toward the tip of my thumb wouldn't register.

After reading this I decided to try the update.
BAD move.........
I can't even register a finger. It gets to 41% and starts over (and over and over).
Even did a reboot.

Go figure.
 
I was on with Samsung support. They had me go through all of the stuff I already tried. They suggested that I send it in for evaluation and warranty repair! A tablet less than 30 days old that was clearly messed up by their update. Has anyone had better luck?
I can, after a lot of effort, register a fingerprint but unlocking it with the fingerprint scanner is irratic at best.
 
Following up on my post yesterday.
After a couple of restarts I got one finger registered.
Today I got two more but it took 45 minutes to complete.
So now I have the full set.

Also anyone know why you can only register 3 fingers?

Yes, that stupid update pretty much messed up the registration process. That said, once I got mine registrated, it's working extremely well. No issues. Unlocked okay 95% of the time.
