I am taking my Thunderbolt back to Best Buy today for a new one due to echo in speaker, the complaints I get from the people I speak to are driving me crazy, tried to ignore them but it's anyone I talk to on the speaker, they hear a doubling voice and if I do a conference call its worse, I don't hear this but everyone else does. I hate to return with the fear of getting something else crappy but since BB will honor their own 30 day policy I am going to give it a shot, I also have light leakage that I was pushing under the rug so maybe the exchange is a good thing. I really would love to get the full benefits of this phone so it is kind of frustrating to go through this, as for battery life, it rocks I can last an entire day without extended battery, but with the new phone I will have to condition it all over again*sighs* Pray for me, hopefully I won?t get another dud. Living in strong 4G area (brooklyn ny) this phone is such a power house, I just wish I didn't have this problem.

Fingers crossed for you, lovy! I ended up replacing mine about two weeks in for screen discoloration. It was frustrating and an inconvenience but well worth it. :)

I returned my TB for the exact same reason. So they shouldn't give you a hard time about that. I returned it to a VZW store though, but I dont see it being much different. I walked away with a better TB. no noise in the ear piece and my power button worked a lot better too. I have been very happy with my new device and I hope you are too!

If you decide to get another bolt they will probably let you keep your current men card and battery.

Thank you all for the encouraging words, I took it back and with no problem received a new one and I must say it's basically flawless, The speaker is amazing I can now agree with those here who say the sound is awesome, I could barely hear people on my speaker phone prior to exchange, I now have very little light leakage compared to what I had, many tried to tell me that is how the speakers are if used as a speaker phone but I knew better (it's a defect). I am so happy with the exchange, I am now doing a bump charge to get things back to normal but the battery is the least of my problems, I just hope I don't run across any dead pixels etc, I don't even know what to look for if there are any because I never had that problem to begin with. Guess I'm paranoid. But the rep at Best Buy did say people are afraid to get refurbished phone they all want a new one when basically the refurbished one is better than the new one because they back track and fix any errors/problems that were going on when first released. Well if I have to cross that road I will get a refurbished next time but this time I wanted my money's worth therefore I got a new one, just happy that I purchased it from BB where they honored their 30day policy. I hope this info can help someone that has a similar issue. If so Good Luck :)

words of encouragement on referbs

I've been involved in consumer electronics since 1976. What i've seen over the years, especially since the 1990's, is that the industry watch-dogs have several more hoops manufacturers must go through to sell a refurbished unit than a new-off-the-line unit. Basically, and i can imagine others have shared this tid bid before me here, every main component in a unit must be tested before it can be resold. Whereas a new unit may not even be tested, just one in 10 or 20 off the line.

Bottom line for me? Though i do understand wanting a new one in your case and i would have done the same...I no longer have issue with receiving a refurbished consumer electronic device.

cheers, and enjoy the TBolt.
(I'm due for an upgrade and still pondering which Verizon phone to get...or wait for)

Hi Scott,

I had to ge ta new memory card :(.. but that's alright it's not like I had my phone for years, I just wish I had backed my pictures up on gmail, I have to figure out how to do that lol. OMG and all my music I had to get off double twist again which was a pain because I had to download some new update off htc site for computer.

congrats on your new tbolt. I guess I can honestly say i am more confident in refurbs but my bolt is a good unit so im glad you got a good one as well. enjoy it
