Update taking forever

I have never seen an update take an hour. Is there any way to stop it in process? I tried pressing Vol up power and home like for cache-cleaning but that does nothing. Looks like I may have a trip to the store. I just have the verizon logo below that a pastel rainbow of moving dots and the blue notification light undulating like something is happening but it has been like this for at least 58 minutes.

So THIS is now the first time I REALLY miss the battery pull option.

I finally tried power home and vol DOWN. It got me back to pre-update status. Now I just need to figure out how to kill this update.
