I currently have a 2012 Google nexus 7 and recently I had the update to jump to 4.3. I updated and forgot that my device was rooted so I lost all the rooted material. I went through the set up again and finally got it to be running 4.3 rooted. this was a few weeks ago. I just looked now and it is informing me to install 4.3 update. I checked my settings and I am currently running 4.3 already. So how can I make this notification go away?

Welcome to the forums!
It may be a patch or something as well.

The update notification you're seeing is for the JWR66Y package, which includes security updates. The update should be significantly smaller in size (2MB). ;) The update notification and information look just like the initial 4.3 update, which caught me off-guard as well (and I was aware of the update rollout).

Edit corrected some information. Also, welcome to AC! :)

I've gone back and corrected my previous reply; I had referred to the 2013 Nexus 7's information rather than that of the 2012 model. The update notification you're seeing is a small security update. As for your root status, you very well may lose root, but the bright side is that it shouldn't take much to re-root after the update if that's the case. I can't say for sure.

It has been known to break root. Due to reflashing stock recovery.

Sent from a SlimROM S3.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I guess I will Commence with the update. I should how ever save my rooted files and stuff so that if I have to root it again it will be easier. Unfortunately I am unaware how to do this successfully and do not know where to start. any advice or is there a step by step way to do this?
