I was one of the many unsatisfied g2x users. After receiving a new phone from tmobile with gingerbread installed (after numerous complaints), I find the phone to finally be similar to what was advertised. Received the updated phone 2-3 weeks ago.

Battery life:
froyo: half a day at best
gb: usually all day with heavy usage, although I don't stream music, mostly messaging/navigation/etc.

Touchscreen Response
froyo: constant double tapping, not at all responsive... sooo frustrating!!
gb: unbelievable improvement in an area I would not expect much change

Shutdown/Restarts
froyo: everyday or every couple of days
gb: maybe once or twice? maybe operator error?

I have to say this went from being an anchor that made me angry every time I looked at it, to being a really useful and fun device.

The main downside of GB is the shutter is super loud and I still haven't figured out how to silence it... unnecessary when using vignette or other apps though.

Anyway, hope that's helpful to some of you.

That's a great response to how the software can impact the phone. I was to install the tmobile stock gingerbread, where can I find that?

You'll either have to use the LG Updater, or use NVflash to load cwm and then flash the rom available on xda developers.

I updated it last night using the LG updater since I wanted an authentic version. However since I came from the cyanogen nightly #124, I don't think the baseband and kernel changed back to stock. It seems to be the same as when I had the cyanogen nightly. Is that going to be an problem?
