update today??

Re: Should I unmount SD card before upgrade?

Advice is definitely welcome on all counts. SD card in or out, update yes or no.
Thanks.

So 3 days ago, did this without pulling the SD card as it was an incremental small update. I backed up my files and apps then restarted phone and cleared the cache then let it reboot and downloaded the new firmware. After update restarted cleared cache and let the phone settle in. Haven't noticed any changes worth sharing. Peace

I updated with the SD card in place. I have seen no problems.

Which update, 4.4.4, or 5.0?

4.4.4, there were 2 builds. VVRUDNJ6 and VVRUDNK1. Would have been nice if they included advanced calling 1.0. I mean...what 4 phones offer it now and it's been available for around 5 or so months now? Seems like longer, but I could be wrong. Yay 1/38th of VZW customers can use VoLTE!

I had called them about that a while back. The CSR said it's up to the manufacturers to push the updates to make advanced calling available and that Verizon didn't have a timeline on them. I don't know how truthful that was, but I'm kinda frustrated about it too.

I updated to 4.4.4 with SD card in and no problems. I usually take it out but was half asleep when I ok'd the update.

It's just a minor update, and the only thing I've really noticed is that you can now download kid's mode w/o any of the issues people were having with the previous update (though I'm not sure if that ever got fully resolved without a workaround).

Also, I think I'm in the minority about SD cards. I stopped using them. There's plenty of internal memory for what music I actually listen to, and every phone I've used an SD card in always seems to start lagging. 32 gigs of space, and 16gb still available.

I've got the 32 GB version too with 14 GB available. I got curious and just looked at m my 16 GB SD card and its using 11 GB. So I not only need one, I may need a bigger one. Different strokes for different folks. ;)
