Updated from NC5 to NG6

Just installed the update a few days ago and here's what now happens. After using the phone for anything and letting it lock down after 1 minute of non-use, I will unlock it via PIN and none of the apps/buttons on the homepage will work (not every time, though--seems to be when it's not been used for a while). The only solution is to either restart or, as I just found out, I can drag down the status bar at the top (check mail, whatever) and then everything works again (far less irritating). I am with Verizon and use the blue Best Buy S4. Would like to revert back to the NC5 update, but don't want to have to reset the phone. Frustrating, but I guess it could be worse. Should I call Verizon and let them know?
Also, if I do a FDR (which I prefer not to do, but will backup using Kies3 first), can I set it up so that I go back to the NC5 update (not the NG6 update)?
