updates to factory unlocked phone

I have been an android user on Verizon for years and planning to make a switch to T mobile. I am considering buying a factory unlocked S3 from Amazon. The product description says its running ICS. When I activate it on Tmobile will it update to 4.1.1? Going forward will it receive updates when T mobile S3s do? Thanks

It depends on what carrier the S3 was originally locked to. I'm pretty sure all the S3's have been updated though so you should get the update. It depends if it's a t-mobile S3 you get or not.

You will not get an update through T-Mobile. I believe Samsung uses the application Kies to update the S3. If an update is available you should not have a problem updating. Note however that the unlocked phone on Amazon my be an international phone and therefore does not carry a Samsung warranty.
