Android Central Question

I am in need of updating the OS on my tablet as I am getting more and more messages saying that apps are not now compatible with my device. My tablet is a standard generic Chinese job which, I must say, still works pretty well so is worth upgrading. It is a Mediatek modelTYD-108H VD1 and it is currently running Android 6.0. Obviously there is no manufacturer update available.

Can anyone point me to:

1. A downloadable custom ROM like Lineage which would be ok for this tablet
2. A clear and simple step by step guide showing the best and easiest way to update it.

Your advice will be appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! I doubt you'll have any luck. You can't install any old ROM to any old device -- it has to be designed for that particular device. A no-name direct-from-China device will be very hard to identify, and will also not be very common, so the chance of finding a custom ROM is virtually zero.
