On my nexus, i often see the playstore icon. it says i need to update x,y,z apps (I do not have it on auto update).

I then update all the necessary apps, BUT sometimes a few days later i see the same apps on the notification screen saying they need an update (but i did already update it..!). It's not even a newer version!

Does anyone else get this...?

It's not uncommon for devs to make a change to their app and then have to do a few minor updates right afterwards to clean up new bugs they introduced with the first update. In some cases depending on what the dev is doing the Changelog or version number will remain the same.

I wouldn't worry about it, just take the updates when the pop up or if data usage is a concern set it to auto-update on wifi and forget about it.

Yes, cause they constantly keep updating. Their versions change like v1.2 > 1.3 > 1.4. :D

When i was 17, VLC player on windows pc was like 0.6.2 version now they are at v2.1.8. They didn't updated that in single but piece by piece. Same is for android apps a d games. Bringing new features a d eradicating older bugs :)

Flowed from Burst !

Thanks - makes sense. i don't auto update to conserve battery.

Some people choose not to auto-update their apps because they're concerned devs will remove or break certain features in their apps via updates.
This is the 1st time I've heard someone say they don't auto-update to conserve battery. I'm not going to dispute you but I'm just going to suggest something for you to think over.

Of the following scenarios, which uses more battery?

A. Phone automatically updates your apps when connected to a Wi-fi network. Screen stays off.

B. User turns on the screen. Tap/scroll to get to the My Apps section of the Play Store app. If there are updates, tap update all. All of this happens while the screen is on. If there are no updates, that means the battery spent on turning on the screen and navigating to the Play Store app was all for nothing.

Good point and valid. i usually get notification and i usually download in the background if i am doing something else. However i concede what you say is probably better.
