Updating by official firmware with modified root kernel?

hey,i have a rooted samsung galaxy core prime but i have stock rom and stock recovery but i have a modified root kernel..so i want to update to lollipop through official firmware,so can i update through odin having the root kernel?will the upgrade brick my phone or the firmware will just replaced the kernel to stock?thanks in advance..
