Updating ROMs?

Hey guys,

I want to try out Google Wallet, but I need to go to the newest nightly. All I do is download it from rom manager, and flash it? I don't need to wipe data, right? Just Dalvik and regular cache? Do I also need to flash gapps again?

I also have a custom kernel on there. Will flashing a rom remove it?

Also, I have an older version of clockworkmod, because the newest one at the time (3.1.0?) wouldn't work. Should I go ahead and update CWM, too?

Also, I hear I need to download a zip for GWallet? Where can I get it?
Thanks, I just want to be sure :P.

For cm7? Backup. Wipe cache and dalvik. Flash. Thats all.

You'll lose your kernel and need to flash it again. I've had problems flashing kernels over kernels over kernels.

Google wallet needs a data wipe and you'll lose it if you update. Gapps you wont.

Okay, I'm now on CM7 Nightly version 131 :D. Everything seems fine, too. Where do I download the Gwallet zip?

Thanks :D

So I found a Gwallet thing on XDA and flashed it, and now it says Insufficeient secure element priviledges for this system image (test-keys).

What? :P

Yea. You need to wipe data before you install. factory reset not sure why. They are still trying to figure it out. But before it would fc. So they made it somewheres.

Wiping data won't kill root.... You just gotta resetup the phone again if you aren't using something like titanium backup.

Still got the same error. I reflashed my current rom (nightly 131) with ROM Manager, and erased data. After that, I went into titanium backup and started restoring things.

I accidentally restore google wallet with Titatanium Backup. Then I got a force close. Then I went into Titanium Backup and uninstalled it. Then I reflashed the google wallet zip with rom manager, and now I get the same error.

Did restoring with Titanium backup screw it up? Should I rewipe the data?

Probably. Since you have to wipe data anyways here is my suggestion:

1- Download CM7 Rom (If you don't still have it)
2- Download Gapps (IF you don't have it)
3- Download Gapps New Talk (If you want video chat in Gtalk)
4- Download Wallet Fix .5 (If you don't have it.

Then

1- Wipe Data
2- Wipe Cache
3- Wipe Dalvik
4- Install Cm7 Rom. (Not your backup)
5- Install both gapps if applicable.
6- Install Wallet Fix
7- Boot Up Phone

Then

Titanium Restore; and, make sure you uncheck wallet this time (And probably shopper as well just to be safe).

I just did all that and it doesn't work :(.

I installed Nightly 131 with ROM Manager, and checked Wipe Cache, Dalvik, and Data. Then, I went and installed Gapps from the Market, then installed ROM Manager, then flashed the wallet fix.

I get the same error :(

Gapps from the market? I don't use rom manager. It's most likely the issue. Do it all manually through Clockwork.

Cm7: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=nightly&device=crespo4g (132 the screen rotate doesn't work)

Yes, it worked!

I don't know why it doesn't work with ROM Manager...

Thank you so much!

Because Rom Manager is funky. Same reason why rom manager will install CWM and then you go to boot into recovery; but, there is no recovery img installed.
