Updating the Tab A 8?

I just purchased this tablet (refurbished on eBay).

So far for the price it is great for my needs.

Since this is an older model tablet, is it not supported by updates anymore?

I can download the latest update but cannot install it?

Every time I try and install the update I get the error message "Update Unsuccessful, Error Code: 405"

I also tried to use the "Software Upgrade Assistant". It tells me to plug in the the tablet to the computer via USB and then select "System Update" but when I do that, it is not even giving me access to select that prompt.

Is all this because the tablet is not supported anymore because it is an older model?
I would suspect I should still be able to download and install the latest updates available before Samsung would completely stopped providing support.

The update available that won't let me install is "Samsung Update 9".

What's the exact model number? You can find it in Settings>About Tablet.

That's the Verizon variant. Carrier-branded tablets back then often had to be on the carrier's network in order to get official updates. You can probably flash the updates using Odin, but I'm not experienced with that. Let me see if @mustang7757 can help.
