Finally decided to put a custom rom on my device as it was still sitting on 5.0.2 and wasn't going to get an official update so took the plunge.

And to my surprise I'm now running nougat 7.1.1 on my device and it's stable and faster! The process has become an easier and less dangerous thing than a few years ago, as long as do everything correctly and slowly. Also make a backup of the current firmware just incase you don't like it or have issues.

I pretty much followed this guide but has to use the new lineage 14.1 rom and 7.1.1 gapps.

Cool. Everything working like the camera and sound? Seems that was an issue with 7.0. Thanks

Went a head and installed. Process was easy enough though it failed the first time due to not enough storage space. So I wiped it then installed.

Camera does not work with any 3rd party app. Not a big issue as I rarely use it, but be nice if it worked.

New issue. Tablet does not turn off when I close the case like it used to. Not a huge issue but one to be aware of.

Hi Skid_
I know it's been a few years since you posted here.

Could you please tell me what model# your Tab 4 is?

I have a SM-T537V and was trying to find out if the upgrade you used would work for it.
Thanks,
Rob
