Updating using an unlocked phone

So I have an S3 that was originally AT&T but its unlocked. I'm using my Rogers pay as you go on it at the moment except I can't do any firmware updates. Is it possible to use an AT&T prepaid sim to be able to get the firmware to update? Or can I update it if i just remove my rogers sim card?

If you are trying to do it OTA, you can't because you must have an AT&T sim card in the phone that has service with a data plan. The other way is through Samsung Kies. The 4.1.2 update isn't out yet though via Kies. If you are trying to update to 4.1.1 you can update with Kies. Unless you have the AT&T sim with the service and data, you can't update via OTA.
