Hey guys,

I'm running Oxygen ROM with netarchy kernal, and when I go to 'about phone' and sprint system updates, the only 2 options are update profile and update prl. I am only running android 2.3.5 and was wondering why there is no software update option anymore.

Because, lol.

How would you, why would you, update software your not running?

The guy who made the Oxygen ROM removed those options so that people wouldn't be trying to update their phones and screwing stuff up.

So I'll ask also, why and/or what are you wanting to update?

If you're seriously asking this, then you have no business rooting and ROM'ing

It won't work with Oxygen that I am aware of unless you go back to a stock kernel.

There seems to be luck with Cyanogenmod and maybe some other ROMs but youd have to look into that.

I'm assuming you want this for Google Wallet because the other functions of NFC work fine with Oxygen.

If you updated to 2.3.7 before going to Oxygen it won't work. Once you go 2.3.7 you don't go back. 2.3.7 changes some things that won't get changed back ore 2.3.7 builds. IE why his NFC doesn't work. The same thing happened to me on Cm7 when it was still 2.3.5. Now that Cm7 is 2.3.7 it works without having to do anything.

SO, if you want just NFC to work you need to use a rom that is built on 2.3.7. Anything before will me impossible to get NFC working.

IF, you want Google Wallet; you will also need to be on some sort of 2.3.7 rom. Doesn't matter what rom as long as it's 2.3.7. The best way to get wallet would be to:

1- Download a 2.3.7 based rom
2- Download Google Wallet Fix from XDA
3- Reboot into recovery
4- wipe data
5- wipe cache
6- wipe dalvik
7- install 2.3.7 based rom
*- Flash gapps if applicable
*- Flash gapps new talk if applicable
8- Flash Google Wallet Fix
9 - Reboot

The Oxygen I'm on is 2.3.7 based and I've tried the 9 step process you listed I don't know how many times and couldn't get it to work. I read on XDA that switching to a stock kernel fixes it. Will try now.

Hmm. I thought I saw the opposite. Works on cm7 with the cm7 kernel.

Strange. All I know is its funky on cm7. You actually have to open the app to use it instead of tapping and it opening. It gets killed in the background and stops running after an unspecified amount of time.

i tried Pete's kernel and the stock kernel and neither would get past the security check. really the biggest reason im looking forward to ICS is so i will stop myself from jerking around with ROMs and just go back to stock rooted.

I'm stock rooted with netarchy and have no issues. That's strange.

I was thinking the same thing about ics. But at the same time think about how much better the roms will be! Lol.
